The EMD NW2 is a 1000-horsepower (750 kW) diesel-electric switcher locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division between February 1939 to December 1949.  The EMD was fitted with a 567 two-stroke, 1000 hp V12 diesel engine. 1121 locomotives of this design were built for US railroads and 24 were built for Canadian railroads.

The NW2 is made solely of thin-etched nickel-silver and brass castings. 

The engine is powered by a tiny 3 poles coreless 6 mm motor with a 3 stage reducer. Mecanic with ball bearings. Reduction ratio : 50:1

The axles "2" and "3" are powered. The axles 1 & 4 are "cosmetic" . This solution is not usual, but gives good results. Different other solutions were tested but each time the results were bad. Weight : 28 grammes.

The model comes with body mounted "GH" couplers (compatible with MTL couplers). It also features LED direction-controlled lighting.

They are available for DC power OR for DCC (with Z2 decoder ).

Minimum radius recommended : 195 mm
