The EMD SW900 is a 900-horsepower (670 kW) diesel-electric switcher locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division between December 1953 and March 1969.  Its  engine was an EMD 567C, a two-stroke, 900hpV8 diesel. 260 locomotives of this design were built for US railroads and 97 were built for Canadian railroads.

The SW900 in Z

The SW900 is made solely of thin-etched nickel-silver and brass castings.

The engine is powered by a tiny 3 poles coreless 6 mm motor with a 3 stage reducer. Mecanic with ball bearings. Reduction ratio : 50:1

The axles "2" and "3" are powered. The axles 1 & 4 are "cosmetic" . This solution is not usual, but gives good results. Different other solutions were tested but each time the results were bad. Weight : 28 grammes.

The model comes with body mounted MTL couplers. It also features LED direction-controlled lighting.

They are available for DC power OR for DCC (with Z2 decoder ).
